Reasons it could have been a race:

1. People were running
2. T-shirt came with registration fee
3. Mile split callers
4. Watermelon at the finish

Reasons I’m not sure if it actually was a race:

1. There are more main characters still alive on Lost than there were runners today
2. I’m about 99 percent sure the Start/Finish line moved after the race began
3. My first mile was clocked at 5:23… yeah, right.
4. After about the first 15 runners, the finish line timer stopped yelling out times.
